Founded in 2003 by Mid-Michigan writers Dion Mindykowski and Adrienne Lewis, The Rooftop Series (TRS) has undergone many staff changes since its inception as a creative publishing project. Originally a project of Dwells in Attics Press, the chaplet series joined the Mayapple Press catalogue of offerings in early 2004. Since then, it has become its own entity, publishing under the TRS name and logo.
Today TRS operates as a cooperative publishing venture edited solely by Adrienne Lewis. It provides a forum for creative works through serialized chaplet editions. Work from emerging writers, who are generally underrepresented by the larger, market-driven commercial publishing houses, as well as poems by established writers looking to introduce themselves to new markets, are considered for publication.
Writers whose work is selected for publication are asked to purchase half the initial print run (typically runs 100 copies). All chaplet editions are sold for $1.00 each. Authors requiring additional copies after the initial print run are sold reprints for a 50% discount (/home/free/cgi-bin/util/sitebuilder.50 per chaplet).
Each 'chaplet' consists of a two-sided, three panel pamplet publication featuring the poet's work in an attractive (not decorative, but aesthetically functioning) font on high-quality paper. An image representative of the collection is included on the cover (please note that color images increase the price of the chaplet by /home/free/cgi-bin/util/sitebuilder.50 and thereby also increase the contributor's portion of cooperative publication costs).
Chaplets are sold via this site on the Internet as well as at regional and national bookfairs by the publisher. All rights to the published work revert back to the author.
